It all began when Marc Perera saw the opportunity to create his own FIRST LEGO League team and decided to move the project forward. Marc contacted several friends he knew might be interested, and finally, in September 2022, he founded a team together with Ares Acosta, Sergi Civit, and Àlex Casanovas. Thus, a team of four members was born, all with experience in the FIRST LEGO League, called Robotech.
We turned Marc’s attic into a workshop so we could work together with enthusiasm and dedication to achieve our goals. To participate in the FLL, we acquired two second-hand EV3 robots and an expansion kit, which allowed us to begin our work.
Our team didn’t have the support of any school or institution, so we did everything on our own, guided by our passion and determination. Our parents, always enthusiastic and committed, supported us in this initiative. With the help of our families and our spirit of perseverance, we tackled every challenge that came our way.
We met regularly in the workshop, transforming that space into our workshop and research and development center, where we worked every day to improve and develop our projects.
After many days of intense work, organizing ourselves to coordinate schedules and share information, we managed to make significant progress. Despite still being learners, we succeeded in getting our robot, WALL-E, to complete all the missions of the Superpowered challenge for the season, achieving a total of 410 points, although not always with maximum precision. This success filled us with satisfaction and motivated us to keep improving.
At the same time, we developed an innovative project called "SHARED ELECTRICITY." This initiative consisted of installing underground cables to connect countries and continents and share electricity. With this system, we achieved several important goals: providing electricity in areas where it’s not possible to produce it, preventing blackouts, reducing dependence on non-renewable energy such as that generated by combustion, and ultimately contributing to lower electricity costs.
To inspire us in the creation of the project, we carried out three visits:
El nostre robot:
CASTELLSERÀ
TORREGROSSA
BORGES BLANQUES
After all the dedication and continuous improvements to both the WALL-E robot and the project, we decided to participate in the FIRST LEGO League Lleida. We were the first team to compete without being affiliated with any school or institution in the entire region of Lleida. Facing 25 schools and centers, we stood out by achieving second place in the robot performance test and winning the prestigious award:
🏆 Excel·lència en enginyeria
This success not only validated our effort and commitment but also filled us with satisfaction and motivated us to keep improving. We finished the competition with great happiness and enthusiasm, aware that we had the potential to grow and learn even more the following year. With this motivation, we were eager to face new challenges, improve our performance, and explore innovative new ideas to continue standing out in the FIRST LEGO League.
None of this would have been possible without our families and our first sponsor, Transports Xavier Perera S.L., who provided us with the space, work tools, and necessary materials.
